Silver Plating

We generally use silver plating for the antique restoration of hollowware, including cups, bowls, vases and flatware such as trays, plates and dishes. Modern silver plated items in which the plating has simply worn through are a daily task for us too. We also occasionally receive requests to silver plate solid 18k gold rings!

What is silver plating? Silver plating is simply the method of depositing a thin layer of silver onto a conductive surface. The surface normally consists of a conductive metal base which allows a current to be passed through it to form a complete circuit. This allows the silver particles in the electrolyte solution to bond with the item being silver plated, the item being electroplated is also referred to as the cathode.

Our specially developed silver plating solutions are hard wearing and extremely durable. A silver plating of just 5 microns is often more than adequate for the long term durability of high wear items if cared for properly.
